What is the SCA license?
A simple explanation of the regulator, the strength of the license, and what to check before opening an account.
The Securities and Commodities Authority, commonly known as the SCA, is the UAE federal regulator responsible for supervising a range of securities, capital market, and commodities-related activities within its jurisdiction. The authority licenses and monitors regulated firms, applies disclosure and compliance requirements, and publishes directories that help investors identify authorized companies.
For forex and CFD traders, an SCA license can be particularly relevant when the broker serves clients through a UAE-regulated legal entity. The official register allows users to review the company name, licensed activity, and regulatory status before opening an account.
Traders should distinguish between the SCA, the Dubai Financial Services Authority, and the ADGM Financial Services Regulatory Authority. These regulators supervise different jurisdictions within the UAE. A broker may hold one UAE license while onboarding a client under another international entity. Always confirm the legal company named in the account agreement and the regulator that applies to the account before depositing funds.
